LIFTING the LORD
Worship
Oh worship the King all glorious above, and gratefully sing His wonderful love...
hymn by R. Grant based on John 4:23
Natural understanding reveals that there is a God (Romans 1:20) and that the only acceptable way of worshipping God is established by God himself (Acts 17:35). What lies at the heart of worship (and salvation) is: God initiates a covenant relationship and man responds. Man responds through his constant praise, adoration, service, trust, reverence and awe. Let us be faithful to that end!
LIVING the WORD
Christian Education & Discipleship
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
James 1:22
God has revealed Himself through the Scriptures. Through the diligent study of His Word all generations can know God and what He requires of his disciples. Scripture is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16-17). We are not only called to know God's Word, but we are called to do what it says. We are called to be "Doers of the Word," and that should be reflected in every aspect of our lives. Whether we are at Church, at work, at school, or at play our lives should bear witness to the fact that we are disciples of Christ.
LOVING the PEOPLE
Congregational Care
As I have loved you,
so you must love one another.
John 13:30
But if we love one another God lives in us and His love is made complete.
I John 4:12
The Lord is seen in our love for one another. Our fellowship with him and each other safeguards us against mistaken beliefs and gives us spiritual strength. The covenant completed in Jesus Christ calls us to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and to each other. Working out our human relationships is part of our walk with the Lord. He calls us to this love because He cares, and through love His greatness is known.
Missions
Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples.
Psalms 96:3
We believe that lost people matter to God. Therefore, we believe the responsibility of every Christian is to reach the people God has placed within that Christian's sphere of influence. For missions this is accomplished through a three-pronged approach: prayer, people, and funds. Each of us must intercede for those who are sent. We must respond when God calls us to go. We must support financially those we are sending. When through the power of the Holy Spirit these three responsibilities are met, Psalms 96:3 will be fulfilled.
Outreach & Evangelism
Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mark 16:15
Jesus made it very clear the first priority of the Church is evangelism. Not all of us have the gift of evangelism but each us has a responsibility to personally engage in the process of presenting the gospel to those who don't know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. First, we prepare by diligently studying the scriptures. With the truth of the gospel being evident in our lives, we pray for the Lord to give us opportunities. When He presents them, we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and share the good news. The Lord also presents opportunities for us to show the love of Christ by demonstrating the fruit of faith through good works. More often than not He uses these works as "beachheads," pushing back the enemy so that God's mercy and grace can flood in.
