Be Christ’s Disciple
Mark 1:16-20
November 3, 2013

Introduction

I. Jesus is sovereign over the process. Mark 1:17, 20; John 15:16; 1 Corinthians 3:6-8

II. A disciple counts the cost. Mark 1:17-18; Luke 9:23-26

III. A disciple follows Jesus. Mark 1:17a; John 15:5, 7; Acts 2:37-38, 42

IV. Jesus gives His disciples a primary task. Mark 1:17b; John 20:21; Matthew 28:19-20;
2 Timothy 2:2

Questions for reflection:
• How would you define a “Christian disciple?”
• What is the value of knowing Jesus is ultimately in charge of making disciples?
• What might be considered the “cost” of following Jesus?
• Why is worship and community so important to discipleship?
• Is there a person, who may or may not be a Christian, whom you could begin
a discipleship relationship?
