Psalm 110
December 15, 2013

I. The supreme reign of Christ. Psalm 110:1; Acts 2:33-35

II. The spiritual reign of Christ. Psalm 110:2-3; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

III. A Priest in the order of Melchizedek. Psalm 110:4

      A. Melchizedek united the role of priest and king into one office. Genesis 14:18-20

      B. Melchizedek symbolizes an eternal priesthood. Hebrews 7:3

      C. This becomes an anchor for the soul. Hebrews 6:19-20

IV. The victorious reign of Christ. Psalm 110:5-7; 1 Corinthians 15:24-25

Questions for reflection:
• Why do you think Psalm 110 was so important to the New Testament church?
• How does the reign of Christ manifest itself in the present?
• If Christ has “all authority in heaven and on earth,” how do we account for suffering and evil
in the world?
• How is the priesthood of Christ a source of continuing comfort for believers?
