Introduction.

I. Our need for repentance. Acts 17:30, 2:37–38, 3:19; Romans 6:23

II. What is repentance? Isaiah 55:6–7; Psalm 51:1–4, 7–12; Luke 18:13

III. God promises to forgive. 1 John 1:9–2:2

IV. Repentance must continue throughout life. Matthew 6:12; 2 Corinthians 7:9–10; Luke 17:3–4

V. God forgives the worst of sinners. 2 Chronicles 33:10–16

Questions:

  • Why is repentance so important?
  • What is involved with repentance?
  • What gets in the way of seeking repentance and accepting God’s forgiveness? How can these things be overcome?
  • Genuine repentance should lead to changes in life. What practical steps might you take to combat your particular sins and temptations? Who might serve as a partner with you in your pursuit of holiness?
