Who Am I? We are Creatures
Ephesians 1:11–12
January 31, 2016

Introduction:

I. Why were we created? Ephesians 1:11–12; Isaiah 43:7; Psalm 16:11

II. We were specially made by God. Genesis 1:26–27, 2:7

III. The world was created to serve and support mankind. Genesis 1:14–15

IV. Three implications of being creatures:

     A. We are not God. We are finite, limited creatures. James 4:13–14; Psalm 90:10

B We are dependant on God for everything. Psalm 145:15–16; Acts 17:25, 1 Corinthians 4:7

     C. We are morally accountable to God. Romans 14:12; Revelation 20:13

Conclusion: Put your trust in the Lord. Psalm 147:10–11; John 14:1, 10:10

Questions for Reflection:

  • Why did God make us? What does it mean to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever?
  • Why is it important to know that we are specially made by God?
  • What happens when we forget that we are dependent on God for everything?
  • What is one important “takeaway” from this sermon?
