February 4, 2018
I. The unbelief of the tribe of Dan. Joshua 19:47; Judges 1:34, 2:10, 18:1ff.
II. False/idolatrous worship provides cover to the Danites. Judges 18:5-6; Jer. 6:14, 23:26, 28-29; Heb. 4:12
III. The results of their unbelief and disobedience:
A. They destroy and plunder an innocent city. Judges 18:27-28
B. They set up an idolatrous center of worship. Judges 18:30-31
IV. What's the solution? The message of the heaven-sent King. Judges 18:1; 1 John 2:15; Romans 8:13; John 15:4-5
Questions for reflection:
- What do you think contributed to the apostacy of the Danites?
- Why is a "do-it-yourself" attitude to the practice of worship both attractive and dangerous?
- The Bible wants us to understand that spiritual and moral order come from being separate from the world and abiding in King Jesus. Are there ways in which you are too close to the world? Are there ways that you need to grow in abiding in Christ?
