Introduction:

I.   Jerusalem will be restored. Jeremiah 33:10.

II.  Three signs of restoration and blessing. Jeremiah 33:11-13.

        A.  The celebration of marriage.

        B.  The offering of thanksgiving in worship.

        C.   The presence of shepherds and sheep.

 

III.  It will be "in those days and at that time" when God raises up a righteous Branch.

      Jeremiah 33:15, Luke 2:8-14.

IV.  What are we told about this 'righteous Branch?' Jeremiah 33:15-17,

      1 Corinthians 1:30.

 

Questions:

  • Given that Jeremiah is likely imprisoned on the occasion of this writing (33:1), how might the prophecy in this passage promote hope within him?
  • What is the meaning of the shepherds at the tim eof Christ's birth?
  • What does this passage tell us about the coming King?
