The Man Who Would Be King
1 Kings 1:1-10
February 3, 2019
Introduction:
I. Author, dates and genre.
II. An old, weary, and weak king. 1 Kings 1:1-46.
III. Adonijah poses a greave threat to the kingdom. 1 Kings 1:5-10.
IV. Why does God allow His kingdom to be brought to the brink?
Questions for reflection:
- Why do you think here and in previous instances, the weaknesses of King David are highlighted by Scripture?
- In what ways does the author indicate Adonijah will prove to be a disaster should he succeed in his attempt to become king?
- Why do you think God allows His kingdom to be brought to the brink of defeat over and over? What does He want us to learn?
