A Visit from the Queen of Sheba

July 21, 2019 Preacher: Rich Lanning Series: 1 & 2 Kings

Scripture: 1 Kings 10:1–10:29

A Visit from the Queen of Sheba
1 Kings 10:1-29
July 21, 2019

I.    A good example of skepticism and openness. 1 Kings 10:1-9, Job 42:5-6.

II.    Three takeaways:

       A)   Solomon's kingdom is a type of kingdom to come. Psalm 72:8-11, 15,
             Isaiah 60:3  5-6

       B)   Beware of all that glitters. 1 Kings 10:14-17, 26-29, Deuteronomy 17:16-17.

       C)   A final word of warning. Matthew 12:42.

Questions for reflection:

  • How is the Queen of Sheba a good example to us?
  • In what sense is Solomon's kingdom a foretaste of the Kingdom of God to come?
  • How does the Queen of Sheba serve as a warning?
