December 22, 2019 Preacher: Rich Lanning Series: Additional Sermons

Topic: Advent Scripture: Luke 1:26–1:33

The Annunciation
Luke 1:26-33
December 22, 2019

Introduction:

I.    The appearance of an angel.  Luke 1:26-27

II.   A favored woman.  Luke 1:28

III.  You will conceive a Son.  Luke 1:31-33

       A.  His Name will be Jesus.  Matthew 1:21

       B.  He will be great and the Son of God.  Luke 1:32

       C.  He will be given an eternal throne.  Luke 1:32-33

Questions for reflection:

  • Why is the angel's appearance and announcement to Mary a sign that her coming child will be special?
  • Why do you think God chooses Mary, a poor woman from a no-account town to conceive the Messiah rather than someone of importance and wealth from an important location?
  • How does this passage point to God's faithfulness in keeping His promises?
