The Battles of Samaria and Aphek

July 12, 2020 Preacher: Rich Lanning Series: 1 Kings

Scripture: 1 Kings 20:22–20:43

The Battles of Samaria and Aphek
1 Kings 20:22-43
July 12, 2020

Introduction:

I.     The Battle of Samaria (God's grace). 1 Kings 20:1-21

II.    The Battle of Aphek (God's power). 1 Kings 20:22-34

III.   God judges Ahab for his disobedience (God's judgement). 1 Kings 20:35-43

Questions for reflection:

  • What attributes of God's nature are highlighted in this passage? How do these attributes encourage God's people today to remain faithful?
  • The Arameans believed the God of Israel to be limited to the hills. Are there ways in which you are operating on the basis of a limited view of God?
  • Evangelical Christians don't talk about the judgement of God very much. What part should the future judgement have in the church and in our witness to the world?
