Romans 12:14-21

Pastor Rich Lanning

I. Who are our ‘enemies’? Romans 12:14, 20, Ps. 55:2-8.

II. We are called to love our enemies. Romans 12:14, 17-18, 20-21.

III. Why should we love our enemies?
      A. Love is one way that evil is overcome. Romans 12:21.

      B. Because this is what God does. Matt. 5:44-48.

      C. Because Christ loved us while we were still enemies. Romans 5:8-10.

      D. Because ultimately, God will bring His wrath on those who deserve it.
          Romans 12:19-20, Psalm 52:5-7.

Questions for reflection:
            • Who are the people that you find hardest to love? Why?
            • What do you think is Christ’s perspective toward these individuals?
            • What might be a tangible way of communicating love to one of these
               individuals in the coming week?
            • Challenge: write down their names (if you know them) and begin praying
               for them.
