Scripture: 2 Corinthians 1:12–1:14

The Testimony of Conscience
2 Corinthians 1:12-14
January 31, 2021
Pastor Rich Lanning

Introduction:

I.   The importance of the conscience. 2 Cor. 1:12; 1 Tim. 1:5, 19, 3:9; 1 Peter 3:16; Acts 24:16; Hebrews 9:14, 10:22

II.  Paul's conscience was a witness to his integrity and godly character. 2 Cor. 1:12; 6:3-10; 1 Cor. 15:10

III. What Paul wrote was clear and consistent with who he was. 2 Cor. 1:13-14a, 4:3, 10:10-11

IV.  On the final day, Paul will boast because of the Corinthians and so too the reverse. 2 Cor. 1:14; 1 Cor. 4:4-5

Questions for reflection:

  • What is it about Paul's example that spurs you on in your walk with the Lord?
  • Is your conscience clear before the Lord? What might you need to do to cultivate a clear conscience?
  • Paul was motivated by the future return of Jesus to persevere in his ministry to others. How might Christ's return serve as a motivator for you?
