What Are the Youth Doing This Summer?

Summers are an exciting time in ECC's youth ministry, and I'd like to give a preview so you can be informed, in prayer, and even involved. Though I can't speak for all of our teens' individual plans, I present three categories of summer activities connected with ECC: ministry, adventure, and training.

MINISTRY

P1020139.JPG We like to get our students involved in a variety of ministries, challenging them spiritually and physically.

On June 15-18, junior high and high school students will be leading Backyard Kids Clubs (an evangelistic outreach) at ECC members' homes for part of the day and spending part of the day on service projects. Our students did fantastic work in the Kids Clubs last summer, and we're really excited to see them leading and serving once again this summer!

Pray for us as we plan and prepare, as well as for those we'll reach. If you're interested in being involved, we're still looking for drivers for Backyard Kids Clubs! Please contact us at the office.

ADVENTURE

Resident Camp photo collageOne of the benefits of the property God has blessed us with here is the opportunity enjoy the great outdoors. During Resident Camp, July 19-22, 9-14 year old students will camp out on the ECC grounds, eat meals here, have devotions and teachings on site, and take adventure trips such as hiking, rafting, or rock climbing.

These opportunities to celebrate the goodness of God's creation together with friends are rich and valuable.

Pray for safety, great fellowship, and a deep appreciation of God's good world. If you're interested in being involved, we can always use volunteer leaders, drivers, and people to bring meals during camp! Contact Isaac at the office.

TRAINING

Students' comparatively less encumbered summer schedules allow for some focused discipleship training, which, to some extent, we get through mission trips and service projects. But we can do more.

RYM crowd shotOnce every four years, we take high school students to Florida for the Reformed Youth Ministries summer conference. This conference brings together hundreds of students from Reformed congregations all over the USA for an unforgettable week of fun on the beach, dynamic, God-centered worship, and solid, biblical teaching. There's nothing like it out there!

We'll be in Panama City Beach, Florida, from June 29-July 3 for this year's conference, the theme of which is "Abiding in Christ."

Pray for God to grip our students' hearts with the depth of his grace and to equip them for lives of service in his kingdom!

Please help us send our students by considering (a) our Rent-a-Student program to help teens earn money by doing odd jobs, (b) supporting us at the Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser before the Joyful Noise Concert on April 26, 5:30pm, or (c) simply donating to the trip! Contact Isaac at the office for details.
